Tasting notes
The full-bodied 2021 Chardonnay Larry Hyde & Sons features compelling scents of toasted hazelnut and pencil shavings, set against a backdrop of pear and pineapple. Like so many of Aubert's Chardonnays, it juxtaposes layers of richness and freshness, generosity and crispness, finishing long and refreshing.

The 2021 Chardonnay Larry Hyde and Sons Vineyard is stunning, Bright, vibrant and explosive, the 2021 Hyde is fabulous. Crushed rocks, mint, white pepper, pear, lime and jasmine all race out of the glass. This chiseled, sculpted Chardonnay shows just how magical the 2021 vintage is. This is one of the most refined Hyde Chardonnays I have tasted from Mark Aubert.
Yellow green color. A full-bodied and plush chardonnay with nougat, lemon, lime, hints of chalk. Ginger. Touch of raw pie crust. Vivid finish. Drink or hold.
The 2021 Chardonnay Larry Hyde & Sons was tasted as a tank sample, due to be bottled in December 2022. It springs from the glass with electric scents of lemon and grapefruit juices, leading to suggestions of fresh ginger, crushed stones, and brine. The full-bodied palate delivers beautiful seamlessness, with a silken texture and wonderful lift on the long, long finish. Planted with the Corton Charlemagne clone of St Georges rootstock, this is one of the last vineyards to be harvested, hence a long hang-time.
About the producer

The Aubert wines, particularly the Chardonnay, have a cult following – beloved for their rich, hedonistic style. Created by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 1999, the property makes some of California’s most sought-after Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all from single vineyards across Sonoma.
