Tasting notes
Now exhibiting a bit more oakiness than during the en primeur tasting, the 2022 Tessendey displays aromas of dark berries and spices. It is moderately full-bodied and dense, maintaining structure and harmony even with a robustly extracted framework of tannins and a prolonged finish.

Classic red and black cherry and currant fruit, spicy wood, and chocolate notes all shine in the 2022 Château Tessendey, a balanced, medium to full-bodied 2022 that has velvety tannins and a round, lush, layered style. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it should keep for a solid decade.
Same owners at Ch la Serre in St Emilion, located on high quality limestone soils in Saillans, beautifully rich plum colour, medium intensity, lots of austerity here, get clear oyster shell salinity, grip through the palate, great texture with ripe black fruits alongside. Mouthwatering finish, enjoyable and great value. A buy.
The 2022 Tessendey still lacks some bandwidth on the nose, offering blackcurrant pastilles but needing more minerality. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and slightly chalky tannins, leading to an austere finish. So-so.
