Tasting notes
The 2022 Lamothe Guignard has a simple nose, with acacia honey, pear and quince unfolding in the glass. The palate is clean and viscous, though it seriously lacks acidity, so the finish is creamy but cloying, with white chocolate on the aftertaste. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Surprisingly fresh and spicy, the 2022 Lamothe-Guignard, a blend of 90% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle, reveals delicate, vibrant aromas of licorice, pineapple, exotic fruits, papaya and pepper. Medium to full-bodied, round and enrobing, it offers a textured palate with a juicy core of fruit, a spicy, fresh mid-palate and a long, mineral, ethereal finish. The excellent acidity should allow it to age gracefully over the next decade and more. This has 140 grams per liter of residual sugar.
Burnt amber in colour, this is powerful and intense with plenty of marmalade, preserved lemons, saffran and slate. Good quality.
