Gourmand and charming, the 2022 D'Agassac has turned out beautifully. Evoking aromas of dark berries, cassis, mulberries and flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with melting tannins and some freshness enhanced by a juicy core of fruit. This blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot matured for 12 months in barrels (60% new). It is a seamless, perfumed wine.

Red and black currants, tobacco leaf, leather, and cedary nuances all shine in the 2022 Château D'Agassac, a charming, forward, medium-bodied 2022 that has fine, nicely balanced tannins, a pure, elegant mouthfeel, and outstanding length. It's going to drink incredibly well over the coming 10-12 years. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc raised in 60% new barrels and 40% in stainless steel.

The 2022 Château d'Agassac has a slightly savory bouquet with bacon fat infusing the dusky black fruit and maybe just a touch of Brett, though not so much that it detracts from the enjoyment. The palate is medium-bodied and quite "solid" in the mouth, with grainy tannins and some dryness toward the finish that attenuates a little sharply. This is early drinking.

Cru bourgeois exceptionnel. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, on two gravelly ridges and an area of sandy gravel. Yield 35 hl/ha. Aged 60% in new barrels, 40% in stainless-steel vats. Quite aromatic. Rather like the Reysson, there is nothing to object to but nothing to lift the spirits either. Just a tad stodgy. And with no shortage of tannin! (JR)
