Tasting notes
Impressively aromatic and well-defined in the glass, the 2018 Clonal Selection Elgin Chardonnay offers delightful notions of seductive oak spices, sweet citrus, lemon pastry cream, green and yellow apple skin, Marcona almonds and lemon pannacotta. Medium-bodied, the Chardonnay has a delightful beam of acidity across the mid-palate along with fine mineral tension and a balanced structure. The wine concludes with an ever-evolving, lingering finish that will continue to drink well for the next 12 years or more. You will want to put this on your shopping list.

The 2018 Chardonnay Kershaw Clonal Selection Elgin, matured in 40% new oak (228- and 500-liter Burgundy barrels) offers impressive intensity on a nose of orange zest, Japanese yuzu and hints of dried honey. It is slightly more pithy than the Duivenhoks Chardonnay. The palate is well balanced with a precise but substantial opening. A little denser than other cuvées from Kershaw, it offers superb concentration on the finish. Touches of brioche and chamomile linger long after the wine departs. Superb.
