I tasted an unbottled sample of the 2017 Côtes du Jura Amphora Chardonnay, which has intense notes of mushrooms, despite the fact that when they opened the amphora, there was no flor on the wine, but there is also an absence of oxygen. This is very different from the others; the wine is longer, a little dustier, a little rounder and more glycerin-like. It has 13.5% alcohol and was in the amphora for three years.

The refined 2017 Côtes du Jura wafts from the glass with delicate cumin spice, apple skin, bread dough and white almonds. Chamomile adds another layer. Full-bodied and complex, the 2017 spoils the palate with marked intensity and concludes with a distinctively nutty finish. Offering spot-on balance, this has all the necessary ingredients for a very long life in bottle.
2016 was not produced because it developed veil, so we jumped to the 2017 Côtes du Jura Ouillé, a very clean and powerful wine from a warm and ripe vintage aged one and a half years in barrel (when the 2015 aged for three years). It's from a good year for ouillé wines and has a good alcohol level but more important, a good pH that gives the wines it's freshness. It's fresh and young and was bottled without filtration. The wine is bright and clear, as the vintage produced wines that were naturally clear pretty soon. Only 900 bottles were filled in April 2019.
