2014 D'Arsac

The 2014 D'Arsac has a pleasant raspberry and briary-scented bouquet, nicely defined with fine mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin, a little oakier than I expected with a slightly savory, grippy finish that lingers in the mouth. Robust for a Margaux although it does possess good depth, I would keep this a year in bottle. Tasted September 2016.

53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 80% barrel aged. Deep crimson. Deep, a little cedary and lightly spiced, nicely dusty. Oak sweetness on the palate, with some leafy notes but they just add freshness; rounded and generous. Chewy, thick tannins but generous. (JH)

Lively and fresh with a good spread of flavour over the palate. A tiny bit dry on the end but well done and vigorous with no excessive tartness. (JR)
