Carefully placed red cherry and raspberry fruits, this follows up the soft opening with a growing sweetness to the fruits, and a silky texture that keeps things unrolling slowly through the palate. Not an estate that I would have traditionally looked to in this kind of vintage, but as I found En Primeur it has real charm, and is a success. Great testimony to the work they have done at the estate in recent years. Harvest September 24 to Octobe 7.
Ripe red and blue fruits, spring flowers, chocolate, and spicy wood notes all emerge from the 2021 Château De Sales, a medium-bodied, forward, charming Pomerol that has terrific overall balance, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It shows the elegant, charming style of the vintage nicely and I suspect will drink well for over a decade.
The 2021 Château de Sales has a light, tertiary bouquet that needs more fruit concentration. The palate is balanced but light, with just a touch of herbaceousness. An early-drinking Pomerol.
