Score 89/100 · Drink 2020-2025, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jan 2021
This old-vine Sangiovese is usually released a solid 10 years after the harvest, or even more, as is the case here. The Casanova della Spinetta 2007 Sezzana opens to a dark garnet color with browning rims. The bouquet is far along its evolutionary track, showing dried prune and plum with old spice, cured leather and beef jerky. Winemaking is executed in a combination of stainless steel and tonneaux. Some 10,000 bottles were released. My final judgment is that the wine is too far along in age and likely on the decline.

This shows a faint nose of leather, red peppers, dried herbs and red berries. Medium body and fine tannins, but a slightly short finish. Drink now.
