With 114,000 bottles produced, this is a terrific value buy from one of the best performing estates in the appellation. The 2018 Chianti Classico is made with 82% Sangiovese that has been blended with 15% Canaiolo and 3% Syrah from a mix of sandstone, galestro and alberese soils. The wine is fresh and fruit forward with bright berry aromas over easy spice and smoky tar.

The 2018 Chianti Classico is classy, understated and polished to the core. Attractive floral and savory accents weave through a core of red Sangiovese fruit in a mid-weight, gracious Chianti Classico that impresses with its poise and balance. The Isole Chianti Classico is always a wine of restraint. That is especially the case in 2018. Crushed flowers, herbs, mint and bright red berry fruit linger.

This is a really authentic and beautiful Chianti Classico, offering cherries, orange peel and light undertones of nuts and bark. It’s medium-bodied, very polished and integrated with a fresh, juicy finish. Drink now.

Barberino Tavernelle. 82% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo, 3% Syrah. Lustrous mid ruby. A concentrated cherry nose loaded with dark spice. Succulent, tangy cherry fruit with a mint oak note. Building up in concentration on the finish but without losing its freshness or elegance. A wine that never disappoints, regardless of vintage. (WS)
