Tasting notes
The 2007 Barolo Vigneto Garretti is a pretty, floral wine laced with soft red fruit, flowers, licorice and spices. It shows lovely mid-palate sweetness and finesse through to the finish. My preference would be to enjoy this mid-weight Barolo over the next few years, while the fruit remains expressive and juicy. The Garretti was aged exclusively in neutral oak barrels.

Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018. I tasted an impressive set of wines at La Spinetta. Over the last few years the wines have become more focused and refined than in the past. Medium red. Perfumed aromas of red fruits, meat, marzipan and sexy oak tones; one can smell the structure here. Rich, deep and classically dry, combining a velvety texture with terrific underlying structure. Wonderfully enveloping wine with a broad, very rich, long finish. This serious, ageworthy Barolo gives pleasure already but will be better in five years. An outstanding vintage for this bottling.
