The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a succinct nose, neat with underlying mineralité and tension. A very subtle reduction enhances its complexity. There is some clever winemaking on show here. The palate is very precise and mineral-driven, with almond and popcorn hints. The 2019 shows lovely swagger and style with a cohesive, engaging finish that lingers long in the mouth. This sophisticated and compelling Perrières will give 30 years of drinking fulfillment. The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a well-defined undergrowth tinged bouquet, with orange rind, fresh pear, walnut and a touch of smoke. The palate is well balanced, intense and deep. A fine bead of acidity counterbalances the richness of this Perrières so that the terroir still percolates through. It's a great Les Perrières, although I would like to see it slip into fifth gear with bottle age. It would not surprise me to see this taking a long time to show its full potential.
The king of the cellar is the 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières, a striking young wine that unwinds in the glass with scents of citrus oil, white flowers, crisp green apple, clear honey and bread dough, framed by a deft touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, chiseled and incisive, it's tightly wound and electric, the site dominating the vintage more comprehensively than is the case for any other wine in the cellar.
