Green apples, flowers, mint and smoke all take shape in the 2011 Chablis Bougros. One of the more unyielding, reticent wines in the range, the Bougros is going to require at least another year or two in bottle to start coming together. Today, it comes across as quite tightly wound, but with excellent potential.

Pale, bright yellow-green. Expressive aromas and flavors of green melon, lemon and pineapple. Densely packed and juicy, offering a tactile texture and noteworthy volume without coming across as heavy. A very fruity, silky style of Chablis with emerging smoke and talc notes on the mounting finish.

Flinty and chalky with a vibrant citric streak. Decent concentration. Not the longest finish. (RH)

Aged 12-15 months on fine lees in barrel. Dusty and creamy on the nose. Dry, tight and not really showing any greater seriousness than the premiers crus. Quite tart on the finish. (JH)
