Boasting a classic approach to Nebbiolo, the 2013 Barbaresco offers a pure and traditional interpretation of Piedmont's noble grape. The wine is lean and compact in delivery with a vertical thrust of aromas that spans from wild berry and licorice to ash and dried rose petal. There are warmer layers of tar and coffee at the back. The wine shows great overall balance and silkiness.
The 2013 Barbaresco is bright, precise and lifted. Deceptively medium in body, the 2013 Barbaresco captures the energy of the year in a smaller-scaled style that will drink well within the context of the vintage. Orange peel, mint, anise, spices and dried rose petals add shades of nuanced throughout. This is a pretty, entry-level offering.
