The 2016 Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru has a delightful, transparent bouquet with redcurrant and cranberry fruit, wild hedgerow and light mineral tones. The palate is fresh and vibrant with fine tannin, beautifully balanced, lively and tense with a focused finish. What a great Pommard this is! Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Combines wonderfully aromatic oak spices with flinty mineral aromas and oodles of black cherry fruit – very impressive. Powerful and rewarding on the palate, packing loads of flavour concentration into every mouthful. Bold and modern and shows just how luscious burgundy can be. (RH)

The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Les Pezerolles is one-third whole cluster fruit. Around half the vineyard suffered frost damage in this year. There is more red fruit here than other cuvées from de Montille: raspberry, wild strawberry and a touch of Bing cherry. The palate is well balanced with fine and slightly chalky tannin. There's also a fine line of acidity, then the finish clams up for now and says, “Revenez plus tard.” Give this 4 to 5 years in bottle.
