The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru is very perfumed and quite floral on the nose. Rose petal and iris infuse the red berry fruit, as just a background scent of graphite emerges with time. I am initially smitten by this, though it seems to fade in the glass, sadly. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins. There’s a lovely core of red fruit here, leaning toward Vosne-Romanée in style with a lavish yet controlled, peppery finish that lingers. This is a very well-crafted and delicious wine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Deep crimson. Lifted, lively red fruits – smells so vibrant, the fruit sweet-smelling. There's certainly lots of rich fruit and rounded tannins but it feels a little bit forced on the finish, a little bit sour. However, I think this is a combination of youth and concentration and it needs quite a bit of time. The fruit depth is impressive. (JH)
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet, iris and incense notes dominating at the moment, slightly at the expense of terroir expression. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red berry fruit and a touch of white pepper and clove, dovetailing into a piquant, lively finish. All it lacks is a bit of persistence on the aftertaste.
