The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Baudines 1er Cru has an intense bouquet that oddly has a New World tincture - rather brassy and bold, quite a potent reductive element, but there is a sense of energy here. The palate is well balanced with that reduction coming through again, pineapple mixed with grapefruit and peach skin plus a lot of extract on the finish. Dries out on the finish unfortunately and the barrels begin to dominate. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.
