Tasting notes
Fluister is Afrikaans for ‘whisper’. From a clay-rich, high-density vineyard (8,000+ vines per ha). Maiden vintage, picked on 2 February 2021, the same date as Jan van Riebeeck's first grape harvest on the Cape and Eksteen’s son’s birth. All hand-worked. Very pale crimson. Zesty, true Pinot fruit and pizzazz. Some delicacy and no shortage of fruit! Lifted and transparent. (JR)

Initially herbal with notions of wild brush, red cherry and spiced plum, the 2021 Fluister Pinot Noir is layered, herbal and mineral-driven. Medium-bodied, the palate is complex, structured and balanced, offering a crystalline, red-fruited expression that offers up energetic acidity before concluding with a delightful, lingering finish that is age-worthy. I suspect this will perform better after 10 years in the bottle.
