2019 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard

Tasting notes
Coming from an older vine block of a great site in Carneros, the 2019 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard offers up a medium gold hue to go with a deep, layered, concentrated style carrying loads of salty, chalky minerality, ample white flowers, almond paste, and spice, medium to full-bodied richness, perfectly integrated acidity, and a blockbuster of a finish. The fruit here is more exotic and leans towards the nectarine and Meyer lemon direction. It's as classy, pure, and balanced as they come, and up with the top handful of Chardonnays in the vintage.

The 2019 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is deep, and concentrated. In 2019, I am especially taken by the wine's viscosity and sheer richness, both at a level I have never seen here previously. Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers, chamomile and almond build in a statuesque Chardonnay that delivers the goods. In 2019, the Hudson is especially fine. The purity of the fruit is remarkable, while the note of reduction that is typical of Hudson is not especially evident.
About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
