Tasting notes
Looking more like a new release than a wine at a decade after the vintage, the 2005 Cornas Confidence is a rock star effort that oozes Cornas character in its saddle leather, rare meat, barnyard, violets and peppery herb-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, supple, sexy and layered, it pushes on my brettanomyces tolerance, yet holds it together and I’d happily drink a glass or three. Make sure you keep bottles well stored and it should hold nicely for another decade.

Opaque ruby. Brooding aromas of cassis, blackberry and printer's ink, plus a hint of licorice root. Powerful and almost painfully concentrated, with rich black fruit flavors, strong tannic structure and a long, very sweet finish. Tough going today but this has superb material.
