Tasting notes
The 2020 Pommard Clos des Epenots 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with brambly red fruit, sous-bois and a touch of bay leaf. It has fine focus and delineation and is classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sharp tannins on the entry. A linear and taut Pommard, it has a gentle grip and is quite saline, especially towards the finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Pommard Clos des Epenots 1er Cru is very well-defined and focused on the nose, well-integrated new oak that is neatly sutured with the vivacious black cherry and raspberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, crisp and taut, tensile from start to finish with a dab of black pepper on the aftertaste. Excellent.
