Vinfolio, Nov 2022
Raphet’s Clos Vougeot Vieilles Vignes comes from their oldest vines in the Grand Cru, with many over 100 years in age. The result is always a wine of impressive density and concentration – and it’s no different in 2021. The wine shows a powerful, ripe nose layered with dark cherry and bramble fruit. Concentrated and rich, there is layer upon layer of tightly wound fruit that needs to time to relax. It’s a baby at this stage and almost gangly in its youth, with oak dominating the finish. But this will doubtless emerge handsomely; give it a decade or so before broaching.
