Fortunately Raphet managed to get slightly higher yields on their Grands Crus versus lower-level sites. Their Clos de Bèze (from 0.2 hectares of vines) is – as one of our tasters enthusiastically noted – “the real deal”. The nose is lifted with a gorgeous floral charm, the aromatics lifting out the glass and the oak (30% new) beautifully integrated. There’s a chalky grip to the palate, as well as creaminess that builds to a savoury finish.
