2020 Meursault Sous le Dos d'Ane

The 2020 Meursault-Blagny Sous La Dos d'Ane 1er Cru is swathed in oak on the nose at the expense of terroir expression, and I wonder if there is sufficient fruit to really soak it all up. Predictably, the palate is also laden with vanillary new oak, which renders the Meursault quite generic. It has balance and concentration, though it articulates more about the winemaking modus operandi than the place it comes from. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
