Tasting notes
Glass-staining ruby. Displays potent, oak-spiced dark berry preserve, olive and incense aromas that are complemented by floral, vanilla and exotic spice nuances. Chewy, densely packed and broad on the palate, offering weighty blackberry, blueberry, violet pastille and smoky bacon flavors that become livelier with air. Finishes on strong spice and floral notes, with solid thrust, gripping tannins and superb persistence. All de-stemmed fruit and 50% new oak.

100% Syrah. 18 months’ ageing in oak, 50% new. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Lots of meatiness and a charred-oak nose. A nice peppery note on the palate with vibrant fruit and good purity. Quite lively and refreshing style that should offer pleasure in the relatively short term. (AC)
