Tasting notes
The 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape F601 comes from very old vines planted in 1928 and is all Cinsault that was destemmed and aged in amphora. It's closed and tight, with crisp red and black fruits, medium body, an elegant, silky, seamless mouthfeel, and complex notes of underbrush, leather, and sappy herbs. This pretty, earthy, elegant, and singular Châteauneuf du Pape will evolve for 7-8 years, if not a decade.

There are just 800 bottles of the all-Cinsault 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape F601, but the good news is that the wine is excellent, despite the challenges of the vintage. Extravagantly floral and loaded with scents of garrigue, backed by notions of stone fruit, it's full-bodied but airy, with gossamer tannins. It may not be quite as concentrated and long as previous vintages, but it's elegant and reassuringly excellent.
