A little subdued on the nose but with a full charge of fruit that almost distracts from the astringency. (JR)

The 2020 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru comes from three parcels, 70% Charmes-Dessus and 30% Charmes-Dessous, has a beautifully defined bouquet with no new oak, despite its subtle creaminess implying there might be, say 20% or so. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tension, taut and quite saline with an edgy, quite saline finish not unlike a Puligny. Razor-sharp Meursault!
