Tasting notes
Deep, vivid ruby. Spice-accented aromas of ripe red and blue fruits, licorice and succulent flowers, along with hints of cracked pepper and olive. Juicy and open-knit, offering appealingly sweet blueberry, cherry and black pepper flavors that are underscored by a smoky mineral element. Supple tannins add shape to the finish, which clings with very good tenacity and lingering spiciness.

Modest floral and stemmy notes add nuance to the blueberry fruit on the nose of the 2019 Cote Rotie les Essartailles, a blend of fruit from the lieux-dits of Combard, Lancement, Grandes Places and Côte Rosier. It's medium-bodied and fresh-tasting, with silky tannins and a soft finish. I'd drink this one on the young side.
