From a 1 ha (2.47-acre) plot, 40% of the vines were planted in 1944. Lots of iron in the heavy clay soil. Deep mid-ruby. Rich, ripe notes of dark red and black fruits. Cassis, violets, raspberry. Stocky, with big fruit and big extraction. It’s all there, but very young. (MH)

Light peppery nose. Mouth-filling fruit – super-flattering. Great for restaurants? Lots of fun and this does have an undertow of ripe tannin… (JR)
