Tasting notes
Deep ruby-red. Mineral-tinged aromas of raspberry, cherry-cola, garrigue and white pepper show fine clarity and acquire a mineral nuance as the wine stretches out. At once rich and energetic in style, offering juicy red berry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors and a candied lavender hint. Finishes smooth, spicy and impressively long, leaving behind a repeating mineral note.

75% Grenache, 25% Syrah. Aged in tank and oak (30% new). Tank sample. Tasted blind. Spicy nose with syrupy black fruit, very fine brick-dust tannins and medium body. Warm alcohol makes the finish a bit unbalanced. (RH)
The two 2018 barrels samples are both brilliant as well. The 2018 Gigondas Tradition offers exotic notes of red plums, ripe strawberries, peppery garrigue, and tons of floral notes as well as a medium-bodied, balanced, sweetly fruited style on the palate.
