Tasting notes
Vivid ruby-red. Exotic spice and potpourri top notes complement highly energetic, mineral-accented red and blue fruit preserve scents. Sappy and precise on the palate, showing a vibrant lift to its intense blueberry, Chambord, floral pastille and spicecake flavors, which deepen with air. Finishes sweet, seamless and impressively long, with slow-building tannins adding shape and closing grip. Made with 30% whole clusters.

The 2019 Gigondas Lieu-Dit Les Platrières is a darker, more mineral-driven release, yet it still plays in the elegant, seamless style of this estate. A blend of 74% Grenache and the balance equal parts Mourvèdre and Syrah, its deeper ruby/purple hue is followed by a beautiful array of darker berry fruits, pepper, Provençal garrigue, and a kiss of chalky minerality. As with all the wines here, the tannins are spot on, and it’s flawlessly balanced, has richness and elegance, and a great finish.
Bold raspberry and black cherry aromas are laced with Campari-like spice on the nose of the stunning 2019 Gigondas Le Lieu Dit, which comes from a sandy, southwest-facing parcel that is consistently among the last plots on the estate to be harvested. Full-bodied and velvety in texture, this is a rich, tannic (but ripe) example of Grenache that should be capable of aging well for close to two decades.
