Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2019

The 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba is dark and powerful, with a bit more fruit intensity than is the norm. Even so, there is a good bit of aromatic depth from the whole clusters that serves to give the 2017 at least an element of freshness. Burlotto's Dolcetto remains one of the most unique expressions of this indigenous grape.

Lightish cherry red. Delicate, dusty red fruit. Then really rich and thick on the palate, not what I expected from the nose. Spicy, deep and really fresh. Chewy but smooth tannins. Long. (JH)
