Tasting notes
Limpid ruby-red. A drop-dead, highly expressive bouquet evokes fresh red fruits, exotic spices, potpourri and incense, along with a smoky mineral nuance and a suggestion of freshly turned soil. Stains the palate with alluringly sweet Chambord, cherry cola, candied rose and Asian spice flavors that steadily deepen as the wine gains air. Delivers a compelling blend of richness and energy and finishes extremely long and smooth, with resonating floral and spice notes and subtly gripping tannins. This is a monumental example of the variety, from anywhere.

About the producer

Bass Phillip has been quietly making world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Leongatha, South Gippsland, since the 1990s. The estate’s wines were long sold almost exclusively in Australia, meaning that the producer remains relatively little-known beyond its native shores.
