Tasting notes
The Roagna 2016 Barolo Pira Vecchie Viti brings it all home with an incredible bouquet that is focused, intense and beautiful. This wine really stood out to me and remains ever-so compelling thanks to its silky elegance that is feather light but also extremely polished and fresh. I just love this wine, as it sparks a reaction in both the palate and the heart. 3,164 bottles were made.

The 2016 Barolo Pira Vecchie Viti emerges from the oldest vines on the property, those planted in 1937. As always, the Vecchie Viti is all about haunting, ethereal aromatics more than it is about power. Sweet rose petal, mint, dried flowers, sweet red cherry fruit and cedar lend captivating aromatic presence to this beguiling, high-toned Barolo. This is such a gorgeous wine.
About the producer

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
