Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2019-2027, Jancis Robinson MW, Aug 2019
40-year-old vines on clayey sand in the south-east corner of the Grand Cru Romanée-St-Vivant – should it really be a Grand Cru? Bright, transparent cherry red. If anything deeper than the 2015 Échezeaux. Much more energy and drive than the 2015 Échezeaux. Real Vosne drive and precision. Quite a bit of gentle ripe fruit on the mid palate and some real length. Very fine tannins. But approachable – with food. Zesty with a hint of dried orange peel. Proper wine even if not enormously intense. (JR)
