Light fresh colour. There is some energy on the palate, very youthful, early picked, but at the right time, with fine length of pure white fruit. Just a slight element of gun flint reduction, nervous tension, backward long and fine. Superb!

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Bouchères has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with scents of crisp Anjou pear, green apple, dried white flowers, nutmeg and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly fleshy and enveloping, it's bright and precise, with a tangy spine of acidity and a long, penetrating finish. (WK)
Exuberantly fresh and elegant aromas combine notes of acacia blossom, rose petal, white peach, spiced pear and a whisper of just grated lemon zest. The strikingly fine middle weight flavors are almost delicate yet display excellent intensity on the focused and highly persistent finish that flashes superb complexity. As are all the best examples of Bouchères, this is a wine of finesse with knockout length.
Jean-Marc Roulot's Clos des Bouchères feels like such an established part of his range that it's hard to remember he's only been making it since it was acquired from Domaine Emmanuel in 2011. What a wine this is, showing chalky freshness, wonderful balance, effortless concentration and flavours of pear, citrus and kitchen spices. (TA)
