Tasting notes
2018 was the beginning of the latest period. They had more vines and excluded the warmer part of the vineyard; and they began fermenting at higher temperatures and doing shorter macerations. The 2018 Táganan Parcela Margalagua is a revelation: it has more balance, freshness and depth, and they tried to get more complexity in the wine, thinking about the aging potential. This year, they let the lees decant to put a cleaner wine in barrel. The year was very similar to 2016 in terms of weather, but the wine is a lot more complete, with floral, balsamic and volcanic-inflected notes. It's more complex, subtle and elegant. It should age nicely and for a long time. It's among the finest vintages. 2,400 bottles were filled in January 2020.
