Tasting notes
Inky, bright-rimmed ruby. Powerful, mineral-driven mulberry, cherry-vanilla, cured tobacco, cola and potpourri aromas are complicated by an oak spice nuance that builds steadily with air. Seamless, penetrating and alluringly sweet, offering palate-staining red and blue fruit preserve, spicecake and rose pastille flavors and flourishes of mocha and black cardamom. Finishes juicy, taut and extremely long, displaying polished tannins and a suave touch of candied flowers.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bit leafy and simply Ribena-like on the nose. Hints of baking spices join cassis on the medium to full-bodied palate, but this seems a bit more open-knit and loosely structured compared to the two previous vintages.
About the producer

Vasse Felix was the first winery in Margaret River, founded in 1967. Today, it is one of Western Australia’s – and the New World’s – most respected names, crafting outstanding, cool-climate Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from this remote region, south of Perth.
