Score 93/100 · Drink 2022-2038, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2019
Comprised of 61% Syrah and 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 1694 Classification has dark juicy fruit on the nose, with oak tones, wild strawberry and a wild brush edge. The palate is fresh with a tight grip exposing more black fruit with subtle smoke and spice notes to the plushy dark fruit and ends with a plummy finish. The tannins linger in a nice way with balance and structure. Full-bodied and with a long finish the wine is loaded with finesse at every turn. Yum! Give this wine some time to age in the cellar. Be sure to decant for 30-45 minutes allowing for the proper time to breathe when you open it up. It's special.
