2016 Closson Chase Pinot Noir

Unfiltered. From a peninsula on Lake Ontario. Smells like a cinnamon cherry pie! And then something a tiny bit cheesy, but that takes shape as a delicious tang on the nose and palate. Savoury sweetness, like sun-dried tomatoes with Hungarian paprika, mushrooms and chestnuts in red-wine gravy, cranberries and quince and tarragon stems. Tannins that seem to snap around the middle like elastic bands, vigorous but fine. Somehow both delicate and fierce with the energy of a hummingbird. Like rolling tiny ruby gemstones in your mouth and then licking cassia bark. Put all thoughts of burgundy firmly away. This is delicious. (TC)
