The 2018 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru is far more forthcoming than the Valmur, presenting gorgeous orange, peach, tinned apricot and light pineapple scents that are very seductive. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh. This immediately puts the Valmur in its place with a penetrating, saline finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Superb.

While the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros was inscrutable when I tasted it during its élevage a year ago, it was in fine form this spring, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of pear, white flowers, orange rind and peach. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and textural, it's ample and fleshy, with ripe but racy acids and fine depth at the core.
Vegetal, flinty with a hint of nuttiness, the Bougros displays a marked chewy, chalky texture. Brisk acidity carries through the long, flinty finish. (TJ)
The 2018 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru is gorgeous. Lifted and precise, with lovely underpinnings of minerality, the 2018 has so much to offer. Bright floral and citrus notes give the 2018 lift, perfume and nuance to match its mid-weight personality. This is a very pretty and gracious Chablis, especially considering the general style of the year.
