Tasting notes
The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Monna Lisa shows more of the heat in this vintage without as much finesse. The nose leads with notes of dried black cherries, leather, melding spices, and smoky earth. The palate is full and warming, with a good deal of pliant ripe fruit that saturates the palate with a coating feel and warmth on the finish. An opulent wine probably at its peak, it should hold on for another 6-8 years.

Dark cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, leather and licorice all run through the 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Monna Lisa. Powerful and virile, with a real sense of structural underpinning, the 2015 could use another few years in bottle to fully come together. The addition of 15% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon do really add something? I am not sure the answer to that question is yes.
