The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Marconnets 1er Cru includes 46% whole bunch this year. There are white pepper and undergrowth/mulch aromas on the nose, which opens nicely with aeration. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins matched with well-judged acidity. Cohesive in the mouth but missing a little complexity and depth on the finish compared to its peers.
About the producer
Based south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999, grouping all of Jean-Claude Boisset’s holdings under one name. The property has a total 40 hectares of vines, with extensive holdings in Vougeot as well as plots in six Grands Crus.
