Prager's 2018 Riesling Smaragd Ried Achleiten is clear, fresh and lemony on the nose that displays a concentrated white stone fruit aroma and a touch of botrytis, or at least over-ripeness. Not as brilliant as the Veltliners from the Achleiten. Intense, dense and concentrated on the palate, this is a dense and juicy, very fruity yet also tightly structured Riesling with fine tannins. However, the wine didn't sing when I tasted it at the domain in September 2019.

Broad and fun with some exotic tropical notes. Not a typical Achleiten. Riper and more fruity than mineral. But a nice, forward drink. (JR)
