Score 85/100 · Drink 2014-2017, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

The 2012 Pommard Village has a slightly deeper color than the Volnay. The nose offers sous-bois infused dark berry fruit – a little rustic but clean. The palate is medium-bodied with tannic entry. This is bold and masculine but needs more flesh and persistency on the finish. Drink now-2017. Maison Chantereves was founded by Guillaume Bott and Tomoko Kuriyama. Tomoko told me when I tasted the wines in London that the white come from outsourced juice since it is proving too difficult sourcing grapes. Their first vintage was in 2010. Importer: no known US importer, but available through Flint Wines in the UK.

Bright red-cherry fruit and a slight vanilla sweetness. Transparent, lively, lightish. Delicate dry tannins. Notably subtle for a Pommard but perhaps going a little too far in that direction. (JH)
