Tasting notes
The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has a well-defined, mineral-driven bouquet of green apple, wet limestone and touches of citrus peel, all beautifully poised. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite sapid in the mouth, and tensile with bitter lemon and orange zest toward the finish. Good length, if just missing a little composure. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is very promising indeed, offering up a youthfully reticent bouquet of crushed rocks, ripe citrus oil and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and satiny, with lovely purity, a taut, tensile core and a long, precise finish. To my palate, this is the finest Perrières that François Carillon has produced to date.
