Tasting notes
The 2012 Proprietary Red OVSL is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. The wine shows juicy, succulent opulence, a dense ruby/purple color and loads of fruit-focused intensity, without the structure and profound depth of the Futo 5500 or Futo Oakville Estate. It is drinking beautifully already, and should continue to do so for 15-20 more years.

A delicious, open-knit wine, the 2012 OV SL graces the palate with succulent black cherries, mocha, espresso and new leather. Dark, sumptuous and exceptionally polished, the 2012 is superb. This is a terrific showing from the OV SL, which is made from Tom Futo's estate vineyards on Oakville and Stags Leap.
The 2012 OV SL is dark, voluptuous and beautifully textured in the glass. Mocha, espresso, dark red cherries, plums, menthol and cedar are some of the notes that take shape as this radiant, inviting wine shows off its considerable personality. There is plenty of vintage 2012 sexiness. The inclusion of 30% fruit from Tom Futo's home vineyard in Stags' Leap adds precision and tannic clout. Futo has done a terrific job with their 2012 OV SL, which is much more than an entry-level wine.
The 2012 OV SL is absolutely gorgeous. Bright, striking and full of life, the 2012 bristles with energy. This is the first vintage in which Tom Futo blended fruit from his Oakville and Stags Leap properties. Vibrant floral and spice accents lift a core of red/purplish berry fruit. This mid-weight Cabernet is a real jewel of a wine. Drink it over the next 5-10 years.
