Burlotto's 2017 Barbera d'Alba is gorgeous. Soft curves and plush fruit are wonderfully inviting, but the 2017 also has just enough freshness to keep things in balance. Dark red and purplish fruit, spice and cedar build in a racy, unfussy Barbera that is pure pleasure.

Mid cherry red. A little darker fruited than the Dolcetto, but equally fragrant. A little more peppery. Much more tension here, fresher and with more strict, finer tannins. So moreish and mouth-watering yet deep and persistent in its pure fruit. (JH)
