Tasting notes
Good deep medium red. Redcurrant and spicy, nutty oak lifted by a hint of orange peel. Supple, sweet and lush for 2006, with slightly diffuse flavors of red fruits and spices. Finishes with big, broad, building tannins that show a slight dryness from the wood element. I expected a bit more depth from this wine in this vintage.

The 2006 Barbaresco Basarin is a very pretty, harmonious wine laced with perfumed red fruits, spices, flowers and subtle notes of French oak. This is an especially powerful, firm Basarin that needs a few years for the tannins to soften, while the 2006 Basarin isn't quite as seductive as some vintages can be; it is still an outstanding glass of Barbaresco.
