Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Clément-Pichon opens with notes of cassis, baked blackberries and mulberries, leading to hints of wild mushrooms, bay leaves and damp soil. The elegantly styled, medium-bodied (13% declared alcohol) palate has impressive freshness with a soft texture nicely framing the crunchy black fruit flavors, finishing with a skip in its step.

The 2018 Clément-Pichon, the Cru Bourgeois Supérieur owned by Clément Fayat, has an earthy, almost ferrous bouquet of quite intense black fruit, touches of blood orange surfacing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a high-toned opening, top notes of blueberry and black currant, then more tertiary/tobacco flavors toward the detailed finish. This is a fine, deftly crafted Haut-Médoc that should give 12–15 years of drinking pleasure.
Always a solid wine, the 2018 Château Clement-Pichon emerges from the southern part of the Médoc and is mostly Merlot blended with 10% or less of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Lots of red and black currants, dried flowers, tobacco leaf, and truffly notes emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, with a soft, rounded texture, notable balance, and a great finish. It would be well worth a multiple bottle purchase and will keep for at least 7-8 years.
